SOLUTION OFFERED BY COZENTUS
Cozentus was onboarded to undertake the ‘feasibility study’ to ascertain if Microsoft Power BI can meet its client’s reporting needs, which were at that point in time achieved using Tableau. Subject to Microsoft Power BI functionality and the results of this feasibility study, the Customer was to decide on full-scale migration to PowerBI. While they ran Tableau as their main data visualisation tool, for the feasibility study, Cozentus initiated operations with Microsoft Power BI reporting and visualisation functionality. As a selected supplier for this exercise, Cozentus ensured the following requirements are met:
- Build up to 100 dashboards existing in Tableau, in Microsoft PowerBi.
- Ensure that the dashboards encompass all of the information and provide a similar slicing and dicing and filter functionality as available in Tableau.
- Go Ensure that the dashboards refresh automatically.
- Ensure that the dashboards are aligned with the client’s Office 365 company subscription.
- Deploy the dashboards on external facing or websites while being aware of data and its security and confidentiality.
- The clients requirement was such that that source database remains same and look and feel of the Power BI report matches with the Tableau report so that users do not feel any change and it should be as seamless as possible.
- The Cozentus team owing to expiring Tableau licence has very limited time to complete this activity and could do it successfully
These reports were accessible to various users and only the relevant information was shared to users respective to the report or data level. The database refresh for the deployed reports was managed by Power BI gateway installed on a local on-premises server. The PowerBI reports and dashboards allow different report and data security levels, as well as differentiation of roles and permitted access levels attributed to them. Additionally, the users could also develop their own reports in the workspace and decide at any given point in time when a particular data could be shared with other users.
